The main entrance of Dartington Great Hall is a beautiful vaulted space but was suffering from both stone and plaster deterioration. The side walls were re-plastered with lime-based materials and limewashed, whilst the stone ribs were repaired and limewashed. Polychrome on the medieval bosses was consolidated and re-touched to allow them to read correctly.

Dartington Hall, Devon: entrance porch

We undertake stone cleaning and repair work to architectural elements such as vaulting and stone window tracery. Work may include poultice and steam cleaning, re-pointing, lime mortar repair and stone replacement. We approach these projects from the angle of retaining as much of the original material as possible.
